Mussoorie – Queen Of Hills

Share

This song is from 1964 film “Shagun” filmed in Nainital lake. It was foggy rainy day. But this song fits in Mussoorie’s every corner, every stone, every road, Mall road and every road.
This is not exaggeration. Heard a lot of criticism about Mussoorie about its commercialization and smeared image of Mussoorie but believe me when I nearing Mussoorie by car from Dehradun Railway station I felt pity on guys who tarnish Mussoorie. It is really QUEEN of hill stations of India. Do not tarnish nature- nature has spread its arms for you, for your joy and peace.

6 AM Stroll at beautiful Mussoorie. You can see winterline phenomenon with creation of new coloured horizon.

How to see Hills

Drench in beautiful green mountains, Deodar trees, valley, whirling roads, mud houses, Garhwal ladies doing their routine house chores, in shops people taking tea and Mathri, quench your eyes in sunset and sunrise, walk in cold evenings lonely on road, talk with locals, see people walking on road, see through the window glass with a cup of tea the foggy mountains, see the cloud whirling and playing on high mountains, loose yourself, losen your soul, walk in drizzle in cold days or nights, I say do not spend one or 2 days but spend a week and then you will worship mountains like Mussoorie. This holds good not only for Mussoorie but for each and every mountain of Uttarakhand. This Earth, this God has given you a chance to merge nature into you- do not miss it with criticism. Losen yourself and your knots inside.

Then you will start worship of nature, the hills.

From left most are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath hills in your sight from Lal Tibba.

The sunset and sunrise we see in Mussoorie and Mizoram are the best among all Hill stations of India.
They are called famously “winterline”. The reason of its formation is not yet clear. This is kind of second parallel horizon formation as we can see in picture here. This phenomenon more conspicuous in sunset.

Our complete itinerary was as-
