March, 2017
After traveling extensively throughout India and abroad, I can confidently assert that Uttarakhand is akin to the Switzerland of India. In many regions around the globe, a hill station may conclude after just a few kilometers; however, in Uttarakhand, India, one can revel in breathtaking natural wonders that extend for hundreds of kilometers. The seemingly endless expanse of pine trees, silver and green oaks, birch, cedar, ancient temples, and rivers is truly remarkable.
The experience is beyond verbal description. Prior to embarking on your journey, it is essential to set aside your office, home, worries, and any negative thoughts and embrace this adventure to Uttarakhand.
Kausani is situated 40 km from Dist. Bageshwar, state Uttarakhand, India. Kausani is a region watered by rivers like the Kosi, Gomti, and Ramganga.

Location

My 11-Days Itinerary to visit part of Kumaon Hills

Where to stay
There are several hotels in Kausani, and whoever comes to Uttarakhand also visits Kausani. I think KMVN (Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam) rest house in Kausani is an ideal place to stay, and it provides panoramic views of the mountains. You can also try to book in Anashakti Ashram, which has 24 rooms and a library for tourists.

I didn’t get to check out the places listed below, including Pindari Glacier, since it takes 2 days to explore them.
Anashakti Ashram
Founded by Sarla Behn (Kaitherine Heileman). Gandhiji spent some time here.
Lakshmi Ashram
This place is all about social service and empowering women. It was established in 1946 by Gandhiji’s disciple, Sarla Behn (Kaitherine Heileman), who dedicated her life to social work here.
Pant Museum
This museum is named after the renowned Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant, who hailed from Kausani. It showcases his personal belongings, drafts of his poems, letters, awards, and more.
All these locations are within a 3 KM radius of the KVMN rest house.
Tea Gardens
I saw a few tea gardens also in Kausani.

Gandhi Ashram Khadi Bhavan

On the way from Bageshwar to Baijnath Dham, you’ll spot this shop. It has an amazing selection of high-quality woollen shawls, beautifully crafted by local weavers, available for purchase here.
Rudradhari Falls
Located 12 km from the KVMN hotel, there’s a small Someshwar temple at this site. Taxis can only take you 2 km away, so you’ll need to walk the rest of the way.
Pinnath Trekking
A 5 km trek from the KVMN hotel leads you to nature and the Pinnath temple.
Pindari Glacier
This glacier is easier to access than others. It’s nestled between the Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot mountains, with the Pindari River flowing through this stunning landscape.
