Hill Of Water Bottles

Share

A live example of how superstitions become idioms, baseless fear and how most of us start following it BLINDLY.
In front of me is a small mountain of plastic water bottles, FULL OF WATER.

I was at Rani Ki Vav (130 KM from Ahmadabad) in April. I had to go to Modhera which is 36 KM from Rani Ki Vav.
Better option was auto as told by locals there. On way almost in middle auto driver stopped and showed me this heap of water bottles. He told me that every 2 months they remove this hill. There is a small God statue (do not know who installed it). Auto man told the story that once a man was travelling from Modhera to Rani Ki Vav. He was too thirsty but could not get water and died at this spot. Thereafter his ghost stops the vehicles and asks for water.
Since then each and every passing vehicle offers a filled bottle of water.

Unbelievable….but true.

How the superstitions are born

Epilogue

Sometimes while traveling we come across such wonders and fail to notice and record.
