Today Ujjain abounds in temples and traditions and legends are still even today attached to each of them. But it is true that mostly (almost all) are built upon sites of antiquity and none have survived in original now. Desecration and despoiling time and time again , the structures that stand today are more of recent dates, renovated or rebuilt.

just impresses that how much efforts our ancestors did to carry forward and spread their faith in Hindu religion and this temple I feel is one more stone to prove why Hindu religion is Sanatan (eternal).
Udayagiri Caves- A gift from Chandra Gupta-II
People who love history will know the importance of this place. This place on bank of river Bes is just 20 KM from Sanchi and one must visit. The 1600 years old caves are almost among two low hills and forests.
Bhimbetka- The Timeless Caves
This is absolutely greatest place I have seen so far. We can not compare this place with any monuments in AD era. I saw the pottery in purana Quila museum claimed to be 5000 years old but these paintings are unparalleled as claim to be 30K to 5K years old. Declared world heritage by UNESCO in 2003.
