Visit to Maratha Traditional Statue Village Model

While returning from Pratapgad Fort, in Jaavali, Maharastra I saw a Board Shivakalin Khedegaon- A traditional Statue Museum. It is just 2 KM from the base of Fort hill.

Located at Pratapgad Machi, Taluk Mahabaleshwar, Distt Satara. Asked driver to stop and I went to see this village.

My catch

It was not so impressive or informative still it will be a good experience at least for foreigners.

History in Maharashtra Region

Before that I will give the brief introduction of the typical history of the Maharashtra region.

If we travel to any Indian state it is better if we know a brief about the past history it had.All these kingdoms had some or other effect on the regions they ruled once upon a time.

Satavahana : 3rd century BC to 4th century AD.
Vakataka: 3rd century to the 5th century.
Chalukya : 6th century to the 8th century.
Rashtrakuta : 8th to the 10th century.
Chola : 11th century to the 12th century
Yadav : 13th century to the 14th century
Muslim rulers : Khiljis , Tughlaqs, Bahamani , Adilshahi and Nizamshahi and the Mughal Emperors.
Known for their supremacy in proxy and guerrilla wars since Shivaji took charge of augmenting maratha powers against muslim rulers.
Marathas are credited to end the Mogul Rule in India also their fall was due to their internal family conflicts.
This is a model village on life of villages in 17th century. It is not very impressive but a good attempt is made by private owner for presenting the Maratha living style in 17th century.
Entry fee is some what high Rs.50.
Here are some pictures of traditional life in 17th century under Maratha.

Epilogue

I was on travel to visit some landmark forts in life of Shivaji such as to Raidgad ,Shivneri and Pratapgad
It was a remarkable and memorable tour  and my tour was special as I saw these places during peak monsoon.
Since all was done I did visit this traditional village model in hope to see some great findings of that time but it was not very impressive. Anyway it is good attempt and will be informative for foreigners.

Next plan to is to visit Gingee Fort in Tamilnadu.
